Our client is seeking to fill an electrical diagnostic authoring role. This role will be based at a prestigious OEM in the West Midlands, on a permanent basis. You will join a team who delivers technical publications, including owner manuals, service repair methods, workshop manuals, illustrated parts catalogues and other dealer documentation.
This is a multiple support role that would suit a graduate, a junior automotive technician or a workshop experienced person with strong electrical or diagnostics experience, or experience of authoring in an electrical technical information field.
Previous authoring experience with electrical diagnostics would be ideal, but not required.THE ROLE
We write technical documents, using Plain English and Simplified Technical English (STE) for all procedural and descriptive documents. We are looking for a candidate that has a keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills. You must interpret complex topics and deliver them in an easily understood and unambiguous way. To multitask and balance priorities is desirable as these can change frequently.REQUIREMENTS Understanding of program development and integration Use of Microsoft Office packages An eye for detail and accuracy Good communication skills with all business levels, from Directors to technical subject specialists in all business areas, in a global company Produce documents using a combination of methods from various data sources Engineering knowledge, be able to read and understand technical drawings, engineering processes and liaise with engineering personnel A good understanding of how to behave in a professional customer-facing environment Must have the ability to work as an individual and/or as part of a team Knowledge of Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE100) and Plain English writing DESIRABLE If you have already had training in S1000D, Simplified Technical English, it would be highly beneficial Experience of using 3D CAD or modelling software The ability to modify existing HTML documents. RESPONSIBILITIES Producing and updating documents containing: - Component locations, System views, Splice location and Connector details. Producing and updating documents containing: - pin in / pin out information, fault diagnosis flow charts. Development of software tools and integration into supporting documents. Publishing and maintaining the Circuit Diagram Database. Support the authoring of; Remove and install, Description and Operation, Owners Guide and Data Logger information documents
